I feel 3G!

Today, at last I'm fixing the GPRS connection of my 'new' PDA phone so that it can be connected. I know that the GPRS is functioned, but since I used the new PDA phone, the GPRS is refused to connect... and I just don't care... until recently, I saw it tried to connect but as expected - failed. I knew that MMS was coming in... since GPRS failed to connect, so I didn't get the MMS. However, everytime I wanna create new text msg, the GPRS will try to connect and somehow it annoyed me. I know, I know... a MMS is coming and the network is trying to send it in. So, ok... I'll try to fix it.

1st attemp - called Celcom Careline. However, the line is not that 'caring', the operator asked me to call back 2 hours later since all the technical persons were 'busy' at the moment. Alright, being patient I was, I agreed and called back after 2 hours later... only to be asked again to call back again two hours later. No, I wasn't having a deja vu... it really happened that way since their technical persons were still too 'busy'. This time, I changed my skin and being a lil bit mad, I asked for guarantee that I can talk to technical person if I do call back two hours later. The operator suggested I call at 6:00pm which was would be 4 hours later. He claimed that 6:00pm isn't a busy hour since most people are going out like playing football and won't call Celcom Careline to solve their network problems. Ok... I have no plan to go out at 6pm and I don't play football. Whatever!

2nd attemp - I surfed the Internet for the solution. Ok, I found the Celcom MMS setting for PDA phone. I changed the setting... but still the GPRS failed to connect. I referred to the Celcom website where there is setting configuration for different models of cellphone. However, HTC isn't included in the website... so I referred to the closest one I think which is Dopod 818 (actually this is the only available model of Dopod in the Celcom webpage). Then I noticed a statement at the bottom of the page that 3G sim card cannot receive or send MMS using the cellphone. I found one forum stated the same problem where he had called Celcom Careline to configure the MMS setting but he had been told that his 3G sim card cannot send and receive MMS using his non-3G cellphone. OMG, I'm afraid that I'd have the same problem... my sim card is also 3G, but my cellphone... to be specific PDA phone is non-3G. Ok, it did work with my previous cellphone - Nokia 6600 which is also non-3G cellphone... but maybe for PDA phones the settings are complicated and totally different. I did succeed in fixing the Internet setting by using Celcom 2G server instead of 3G... but still I cannot fix the setting for MMS. Although, it has been quite a long time since the last time I sent MMS... now and then, I do receive it ok. So I need MMS! I believe even my sim card is 3G and I can't changed the setting to 2G... there must be a way. Finally, yes I find the way. No need Celcom Careline or guides from the Internet to configure the MMS setting.

Ok, for my own note, here's the way briefly...
1. Change the Internet setting of access point name to "celcom" instead of "celcom3g". The phone should be abled to connect to the Internet using GPRS by now.

2. Change the connection of MMS setting to "The Internet" instead of "Celcom3G MMS Setting". The port number can stay as "8080"... no need to change it to "9201".

After hours (just about 2 hours actually), and finally succeed... rasa mcm terer plak. Maybe Celcom should hire me as their part-time technical person especially on weekend (baru terer fixing the MMS setting, dah riak semacam kan). I feel good, great and gifted indeed... heheee...

Btw, the MMS that kept trying to enter my MMS inbox is from my sis... an image of SuperDet Returns! (A pic of Tun Mahathir in Superman outfit... yeah I got the meaning...) Sabar jer lah... :-D

Review on my HTC P3300 with it's new case

At last, my PDA phone have a proper case! Bought it at Low Yat Plaza for RM45... one of the successful mission. Tara...

When I show my 'new' PDA phone (baru sebulan lebih, still new la kan...), the common question is, "Apa yg bestnya handphone ni?" It hards for me to answer the question actually since I decided to buy a PDA phone pun without any specific reason. I just wanted a mobile phone with built-in wifi... touch screen and stylus would be cool. As I've written in my previous post, I didn't even plan to buy a PDA phone that runs the Windows Mobile (WM) OS or known as Pocket PC (PPC).

Ok, since I can't think of "apa yg bestnya hp ni"… let me start dgn apa yg tak bestnya hp ni… not in order ok...

- Alarm clock... tak boleh pilih lagu mp3 as the sound and the sound isn't reliable. for those yg tido mati, I'm seriously doubt that you'll wake up by the sound. The snooze function is not friendly. But there's a lot of WM third party software for alarm clock.

- There're only 3 options for the ringing sound... 1. The sound is ON without vibrate. 2. The phone is in vibrate mode, but no sound. 3. The sound is OFF and no vibrate. It means you cannot turn on the sound and vibrate mode at the same time. But this is not a problem for me since I hardly use vibrate mode, only if I keep the hp in my pants' pocket where I can feel the vibration while I'm in a noisy area.

- Cannot group the contacts. If you want to assign different ringing tone for different contact, you have to do it one by one.

What else..? So far, ini lah yg tak best yg I did notice compare to Nokia sabun which I used previously. I think we cannot expect PDA phone to work like a normal mobile phone. For making calls and sending messages, an ordinary mobile phone would be more friendly compare to PDA phone.

Yg best plak... hmmm... for me, best lah hp ni. I'm so lazy to elaborate. Just googling on HTC P3300, there'll be many reviews on the PDA phone. What can I say is I'm glad that I did buy PPC, instead of Smartphone. Never use Smartphone though, but I have a feeling PPC is better... heheee... since I have one.

There are many websites offer free software for PPC. My favorite -> SmartNet Pocket Islam. It's a fully functional software for prayer table and qibla for locations around the world, Quran recitation and the translation, even in Malay language and etc. It is FREE. Actually, this is the only free software that I've found so far that works fantastically. Ohh... I almost forgot Opera Mini... an alternative to Internet Explorer. Something do come for free... :-)

Btw, for the products which are not free (and we're talking about PPC... Windows based ok...), I guess there's always a way to get it for free, rite... ;-)

Another mission... but not another frustration

This time, the mission is accomplished... I'd say successfully.

Went to Low Yat Plaza yesterday, hunting for a leather case for my PDA phone and external hard disk. For external hard disk, I already aimed for Buffalo MiniStation 160GB. I also had other brand of external hard disk in mind, but chose this one because the chassis design is shock resistant. However, as the salesperson told me, don't drop it on purpose. Who's gonna do that anyway? Hehee... do I look like someone who is naive and will do the experiment by dropping it just because it claims to be shock resistant? I got it for just RM300. This is one of the items that I've targeted to buy before furthering study at UK this September... (still it hards to believe that I'm really going).

Btw, I've already got the offers to four universities - Newcastle, Southampton, Bristol and Imperial College, except Liverpool... can you believe that? If I don't get the offer to Liverpool University by May, I'll accept Bristol's offer... and there I'll go in September... (gosh... just thinking about it make me nervous).

I did also buy other things... leather case (check out Saira's post... I've bought exactly the same) and external speaker for iPod. Actually, instead of the black case, I was interested to buy a blue one tp satu jer yg tinggal, buruk lak tu. Hehee... like I'm gonna use the iPod anyway... I'm still in love with my Samsung MP3 player. But well, just in case if I do use the iPod one day... (kesian, beli tp tak guna).

I had my lunch at KopiClub, one of the restaurant in Low Yat... my brunch to be exact since I didn't had breakfast. I had Mee Goreng Mamak and Ice Honey Lemon as the beverage. The mee goreng mamak didn't really look and taste like it supposed to (suppose it looks and tastes like mee goreng mamak la kan), but still it was delicious... at least for someone who was really hungry. But yes, the taste was good... despite me being famished.

Got the money back!

Is't a scam?
Maybe, maybe not...

The money was credited back to me last Friday (Feb 29). I got USD10.49 back! But of course, in RM, I got less... you know that selling and buying of foreign exchange. I guess it'd be a scam if I'm agree to create another order and send in a scan of my credit card and passport... we never know rite... so DON'T buy from BoxWave. However, I have to admit that they 'sell' cool stuff (since I'm not sure whether they do sell those stuff or just display it on internet) in a wide range of models for mobile phone.

So that's it... I'm settling down with my lil red pouch. Uhukss... actually I can't get over that custom fitted leather case for HTC P3300 since I know it exists (with assumption that BoxWave doesn't create it just for display purpose). Hmm... maybe I should try to find it on eBay.

BSB Got It Goin' On

My energy and enthusiasm level dropped slightly.

Then, the crowd started moving slowly, very very slowly into the entrance...
"Faster... Faster..."

After a while, the stupid management opened another gate, just beside us to allow people at the behind rows got into the entrance. #$%@&^**! here and there. The crowd around me started pushing hard.
"We came first! We came first!"
No peace.

My energy and enthusiasm level dropped dramatically.

Finally, we were in front of the stage, at the center of the crowd. We waited for the show to begin. It was hot. Every minute passed by, my sweat dropped one by one. I kept checking my watch. Couldn't wait for the show to start.

My energy and enthusiasm were at critical level.

At last, around 8:45pm, the four boys came out wearing a robe, more like boxing robe… and sang 'Larger Than Life' as an opening act.

Suddenly, I felt fully energized.
The show got my adrenalin going like being pumped up.

My energy and enthusiasm level rose enormously.

I was high.
Screaming & 'Brian'ing...

Jumping...
And melting… (especially seeing Brian performed solo in a white shirt)

Two thumbs up and two toes up for the boys for their great and energetic performance. It worth every penny (just RM88 anyway for the tix) and sweat.

Hey nothing's perfect right… I was a lil bit disappointed because they sang 'Shape Of My Heart' as an encore… yeah like a typical concert, we had to shout for an extra song. There's nothing wrong with the song… just the song is my least favorite single of BSB and I was expecting a more groovy song like 'We’ve Got It Goin’ On' as closing act.

Still, I enjoyed the show. BSB rocks!!!
