Sony vs Apple

The winner is SONY!
& automatically Windows win (related post)... predictable huh?

Aku gi Low Yat hari ni, ingat nak survey, tgk puas2 & feel... tak bercadang pun nak beli lg sbb ingatkn tak sempat nak pikir & tak mau tergesa2.

Sampai Low Yat pkul 7:00pm. Masuk MacStudio dulu. Mmg lah dr segi appearance aku rasa Vaio lagi cun, tp there's something about MacBook yg buat aku tertarik. Mungkin sebab Mac tu sendiri kot. Aku tak rasa aku akan jd Apple fanboi but I have a potential to become Mac fanboi, I-use-Windows-but-Mac-looks-cool type. Pastu aku akan lebih mengenali spesis2 keluarga kucing spt tiger, panther, leopard & snow leopard.

One thing lah, aku rasa MacStudio kat Low Yat is better than Machine at MidValley. Aku bleh upgrade RAM from 2G to 4G dgn tambah RM350... tak payah amik Apple Protection Plan hanya krn nak dptkn free RAM 2G. Takde isu nak kene buang 1G RAM lah bla bla bla. Pastu dia ada keyboard protector gak yg cover hampir semua bhgn depan tu... takde lah nak kene pakai dua cover, satu untuk keyboard shj & satu lg utk bhgn tepi2 keyboard tu. WinXP Pro dia jual RM500 tp nak beli kat luar pun takpe.

Just imagine, MacBook dgn Intel C2D 2.4GHz & 4G RAM... which is still cheaper than Vaio SZ, might be more than enough to run Parallels Desktop. Wow... I'm so tempted to buy a MacBook. Despite nmpk cool, spec dia pun menarik. Aku tanya kat org Sony, klu Vaio nak upgrade RAM jd 4G brp... dia kata Windows 32-bit cuma pakai 3G je... klu 4G maknanya 1G tu tak pakai pun. Ermm... ini aku tak tau lah betul ke tak. Tp tak pe lah kan, 3G pun dah cukup.

Survey sekejap aje... sebab dua model laptop je yg nak tgk... kedai MacStudio & Sony Center tu plak sebelah2. So, pikir punya pikir... I guess I'm not ready to use Mac lah in term of practicality & I'm more attracted to the Vaio SZ appearance. Well, beauty is subjective. Lagipun Mac baru nak being friendly dgn Intel & Windows kan... ni kesimpulan yg aku buat lah dr forum yg aku baca... so, maybe next time. Hikksss... somehow the temptation is still there... :-P

Sony Center kat Low Yat pun is better drp Sony yg kat MidValley. Takde plak dia timbulkn isu Vaio yg aku nak beli ni dah abis stok. Saje je nak takut2kn org. Tp mmg betul lah Sony dah discontinued the model. Cuma kat kedai masih ada lg stok. Aku siap tanya pendapat penjual tu pasal MacBook. Aku ckp terus terang lah sbnrnya aku tak tau nak pilih mana... yg baiknya dia, takde pun nak burukkn Mac.

Kebetulan masa aku beli ni ada Sony-Time Sports Carnival Promotion... tak tau lah promotion ni baru start ke, atau dah lama. Dgn promotion ni aku dpt lah bbrp free gift - towel 2 helai & beg... nice lah beg tu. Selain tu aku dpt upgrade from 2G to 3G RAM, mouse, keyboard protector, international warranty & beg laptop VAIO. Klu bayar cash, bleh dpt diskaun 2.5% kot.

I'm happy with my Vaio. I think I've made the right decision. Hilang pening... :-)

However, rite now I'm still surfing using my Twinhead. Happy ada Vaio, but not so excited... still takde mood nak menggodek Vista. Klu Mac lain lah kan... hehee...

Btw, sesape yg masih pening nak pilih antara 2 model laptop ni, bleh lah baca review ni... tp aku sendiri pun tak baca... dah beli, malas lah nak amik tau yg mana satu better... takut nyesal. Actually, bila dah beli Vaio SZ ni, baru aku try Google... rupanya byk comparison yg dibuat antara Sony Vaio SZ & Apple MacBook. In the end, I guess your heart decides the best...

An Apple a day keeps the Windows away?

Errr... why should we keep the Windows away, anw???

I like Windows XP Pro & Windows Mobile. Ok, I'm willing to change, hence I'm willing to switch from WinXP Pro to Windows Vista Business. In conclusion, I like Windows.

What if we can have both - Mac & Windows running in the same laptop with the same price? Tapi knp nak dua2 OS klu Windows saje pun dah cukup??? Ini lah yg memeningkan kepala aku skrg.

The point is I want a new laptop! The power & serious one... at reasonable & affordable price, of course.

This will be my 3rd laptop since I bought the 1st one on Dec 2002. I had the 1st one for 3 1/2 years & the 2nd which is the current one is just 2 years & 2 months old. The 1st one was Compaq which had costed me RM4,500 with genuine Windows XP Home but no CD-RW drive. It was big with 15" screen & quite heavy. Tired with the bulkiness & WinXP Home (reformatting to Pro would be a hassle since the drivers came with the OS installer), I traded it in for RM1,100 (not bad huh for 3 1/2 years old laptop... but that was 2 years ago) & bought 12" screen Twinhead laptop, the one that I'm using rite now at RM3,625, with no genuine OS.

That's it... I think I just have enough. No more new laptop for at least next 5 years. Kalau boleh selama-lamanya (I wish!). So, this time I have to think about it thouroughly.

I'm considering Sony VAIO & Apple MacBook.

I knew that Apple MacBook is capable of running Windows & has good reviews in forum or just Apple fanboyism with typical Windows-is-suck-Mac-is-cool statements, but I thought it would be expensive. Turn out, the price is about the same with the Sony Vaio SZ series (check out Saira's post for more info). Well, Sony has blindfolded-by-the-brand fanboys too. One way or another, I'm only considering these two.

Unfortunately, the RM5k SZ series is discontinued already by Sony. Kat Sony MidValley, model ni mmg dah takde. I called the shop where Saira bought hers, only 1 unit left. So, if I want it I have to be hurry. Or else, buy the RM8k one... dismiss.

I think I have made the decision. If the Vaio already out of stock or the tokey ngengada naik kan harga, then I'll buy MacBook. Let's the fate decides...

Errr... if I really want the Vaio, there is a way like trying making a deal through phone or just going to the shop tomorrow... I guess I need more time to think.

Graduation Day @ KUIS

As I had mentioned in the previous post, my cousins Siti & Isma konvo semalam. Around 5:30pm, aku sampai kat KUIS. 1st time gi KUIS... ada lah sesat skit sbb dtg dari Bangi Lama, konfius dgn jln kat Bdr Seri Putra.

Actually Isma sesi pagi, Siti plak sesi petang. So, Siti masih bergaya dgn jubah... Isma plak dah tak pakai jubah. Tapi seri seorg graduan tu tetap ada wlupun tanpa jubah. Bukan pengantin je ada seri tau, depa yg konvo ni pun berseri-seri je wajah tu.

Doa Selamat...

Malam tadi, mak buat kenduri tahlil & doa selamat. Macam biasa lah kan, klu ada event2 cam ni, aku pun bersemangat lah nak amik gamba. Klu tak letak dlm blog pun, simpan buat penuhkan hard disk. Well, I tak lupa bawak kamera. So, bila majlis bermula, I dgn konfidennya kuar kan lah kamera & on... tgk2 "No memory card". Sabar jer lah... aku lupa nak masukkan balik memory card dlm kamera ni. So, settle guna handphone jer lah... pic pun tak seberapa.

Lauk-pauk kenduri... ulam, sayur, daging masak kicap, sambal udang dgn petai & ayam goreng berempah.

Sambut sekali besday Fird. Kira belated lah sbb besday budak ni sbnrnya 3 Julai. Tapi, ni sambutan besday ke-5 tahun Fird yg ke-3 kali. Ye, tahun ni budak ni sambut besday 3 kali. Sebagai makcik yg kurang prihatin, takde present. Sbnrnya aku ingat besday Fird ni, actually aku tak leh terlupa pun sbb ada dlm kalendar & reminder aku... tp present hunting is just not for me. Aku nak carik sneakers pun tak tercarik2 lagi ni. I love shopping, but I kinda hate hunting. Lain yg aku carik, nanti lain yg aku beli. Nanti klu Ucu jupe apa2 yg berkenan yg sesuai dgn Fird, Ucu belikn k. Happy Birthday!

Hari ni dua org sepupu aku konvo kat KUIS. Tahniah buat Isma & Siti! Sedikit nasihat... the learning process never stop. Klu rajin, sambung lah lagi yek... hehee... actually nak bg semangat kat diri sendiri ni. Huhuu... tetiba terbayang plak aku konvo bulan 12 tahun depan... hiksss. InsyaAllah. Semoga semuanya berjalan lancar & selamat. Amin.

The Day Called Innovation

Started from Wednesday, I was busy with Innovation Day at my agency where our innovative project/system is exhibited. Me & Saira worked as the exhibitors & explained to the visitors which are mostly school students.

Sometimes it was fun, but have to say most of the time it was boring. Repetitive explanations to the repetitive questions of what-is-this referring to our project/board. Most of them who had asked about our project seemed to be interested, but who could blame them when they seemed clueless even after the explanation. I guess the project is just not at their level... hikss.

Today is the last day. The day of the result. We had won silver medal! Should we be happy? We won just a silver medal, with no cash prize... & an obligation to go national... huhuu... ermm. Be grateful I am, glad that we did win something.

Yeay! Another scheduled event has ended! Yet, I can't call it a day... 2 months left with another 2 projects in hand. No worries, I can finish those projects on time. Just praying that the innovative project won't be seriously continued while I'm still here. Then, I'll be worried.

To-Do-List for 2 months

2 months & 4 days until I'm going to Liverpool!

Nervous? Yup, absolutely.

These are just a few things to do that I have to keep in mind...

The important one...
- Renew passport. Mission accomplished on Monday.
- Photograph for visa. Done. Cun plak tu... hiks...
- Apply visa online. Yeay! Dah submit semalam.
- Schedule the appointment. Done. Will be on next Wednesday July, 23 at 11:15am.
- Pay visa application fee of RM664. I plan to this Monday at Alliance Bank, Kajang.
- Book online Meet & Greet session. Got to have the flight details first. Will contact JPA on July 25.

Other important things...
- Repair laptop's DVD drive.
- Fix PDA phone (ada bug).

Related to work...
- Software for online area monitoring. Nak launch plak tu... isk.
- Wireless detector.
- Borang serah tugas.
- Dosia 2008.
- Clear the office... huhuu.

Things to buy...
- Walking shoes.
- New backpack?
- New laptop?

T. G. I. Friday...

Hari yg ditunggu spjg minggu ini... yeay, it's FRIDAY!

Tak tau lah napa, minggu ni rasa macam tak cukup tido. Every morning I wake up, I wish I could get back to sleep & just wake up whenever I feel like to. But still, I managed to get up, go to work & stay at the office from 8 to 5. At last, esok cuti! Yeehaaaa!!!

Well, it has been an ordinary weekdays. D is away for another site visit on Monday. On Tuesday, me, Shelly & Saira went to Alamanda right after office hour to watch "Hancock" at 5:50pm & had dinner at Sushi King. We ate, chatted & laughed. It was fun. We even got 10% discount at Sushi King, well... that's nothing if you're a member & your card's not expired... but Shelly's card's already expired & Saira didn't bring hers... so, that's something ;-).

Btw, "Hancock" is a great funny movie. I give it 4 stars. Tp ramai gak yg tak suka citer ni. I think those who don't like the movie actually lack sense of humor :-P. Ok, there are many illogical things in the movie, we don't even know the Hancock's real name but it's funny & entertaining... even the scene where Hancock in a group therapy session is funny. I like Will Smith's performance as Hancock & no one is more suitable to play the main actress character than the beautiful Charlize Theron.

On Wednesday, I slept early which was at 10:30pm. There's no new CSI Las Vegas to watch, so I guess I better sleep earlier & be fresher the next morning. I did feel a lil bit fresher on Thursday morning. After getting back from work, I watched SATC Season 4 & tried to finish it. I did.

I planned to renew my passport on Friday & start applying visa online. Since it takes only several hours which is 2 hours to be exact to get the new passport, so I thought it'd be the best if I go to Immigration Dept at Putrajaya where I can go home while waiting for the passport to be renewed. At ~12:00pm, I arrived at the Immigration Dept & I could feel something wasn't right... so, I went directly to the counter & asked whether it's applicable to renew the passport there. The answer is no. The nearest branch to renew the passport is Kajang which I already knew. So, my plan had failed, I drove home & took a nap for about 1 & 1/2 hours.

Well, I'll go to Kajang this Monday & renew my passport. I have registered for online visa application... so many questions... why do you choose UK, why do you choose the course, the institution, how it will benefit you, what do you plan to do afterwards, hours per week of your course (which I don't have the information)... bla, bla, bla... I hate fill in the form even a simple one but I'll try my best to finish completing this form by next week.

Oh yea, before I went to Putrajaya to renew my passport, Catz had sent chocolate cake to our office. Tarra......

It's delicious & well decorated I'd say. The recipe is here. 5 stars for your home-made chocolate cake, Catz. TQ! Tapi aku makan cikit je... :-(

Actually, I planned to watch "Journey To The Center Of The Earth 3D" which is only available at GSC MidValley (the only that I'm aware of) with Saira & Shelly on Saturday but since I couldn't reserved the tixs, I guess the plan has to be canceled. I can purchase the tixs online, there are many empty seats as I checked it on Thursday but since the tix is quite expensive which is RM17 including the 3D glasses & I myself can't confirm my availability & mood to go to MidValley tomorrow, so purchasing the tixs isn't wise.

Ok, that's it for my weekdays this week. Thank God it's Friday! :-D

Wanted

One word that I could use to describe the movie - melampau. Kehebatan yg melampau, adegan kejar-mengejar & tembak-menembak yg melampau tetapi keganasan yg tidak melampau. Ye, wlupun kategori 18SG, seingat aku citer ni tak lah ganas sgt. One of the reason I had decided to watch this movie instead of "Hancock" sebab rasa mcm dah boring tgk citer superhero (tp ada hati gak nak tgk... anyone?), selain dr sebab lain yg dinyatakn di dlm post sebelum ini. Wlupun, "Wanted" isn't a superhero-kinda-movie, but still the Fraternity killers are like superheroes except that they cannot fly & not super-strong. Mmg hebat... bayangkn they manage to shoot where the bullet curves through the air & hit a target behind an object. Or... could we actually possibly do that???

Satu lagi aksi yg aku rasa melampau ialah aksi keretapi jatuh masuk gaung. Byk tu nyawa terkorban. Why must create such a disaster only to kill 1 person? Sungguh melampau. Other thing yg aku rasa kurang ok beside the 'melampau' thingys is the scenes where the bullet moving in a slow-motion... alah... mcm cite The Matrix tu. I think it's cliche already. This is what I think lah... but if the bullet's not moving in a slow-motion, maybe the message cannot be delivered. Tak nampak lah kan mcm mana peluru tu terbang dgn hebatnya.

Untuk citer ni aku bg 3.5 bintang. D gave only 2.5... dia mmg suka bg rendah... so the average from us both is 3 stars. But still I'm not frustrated & the movie is entertaining enough especially for those action movie fans. I had expected an action movie, & it's an action movie indeed, so kira ok lah. This kind of action movie, for me memang sesuai tgk kat wayang... baru lah feel aksi2 tu.

Sejak GSC bukak kat Alamanda, aku jd rajin plak tgk wayang. Luckily the cinema is GSC which I can purchase the ticket online. No need to collect the tickets 45 minutes before showtime or earlier. Sampai kat wayang ngam2 bila citer nak start, collect the tickets, beratur beli makanan (nasib baik tang ni tak ada service to purchase online) & off to enter the hall. Tp yang tak bestnya bila reservation counter tak bukak, kita pun terpaksalah potong queue next to the counter, orang yg tgh beratur tu mcm pndg slack (or slag?) jer... well, 1stly that's a privilege of reserving tickets & 2ndly, which is most importantly for me, I've already paid the tickets, extra RM1 lagi tau. So, tak yah lah nak jeling semacam k. Kecik hati aku. Hikss... start dah lari tajuk...

The Incredible Hulk... & ramblings

Malasnya nak write review on this movie. Nobody asked me to anw, rite... :-P. Actually I rated this movie 3 stars, but due to Stark (Iron Man) cameos at the end of the film, tambah lagi 0.5 star... so, jd lah 3.5 stars! The reason why did I agree to watch this movie was because in Cinema Online, the review stated that there's a scene like "Bourne Ultimatum" where Bruce (Hulk) is running & jumping in escape attempt. I love Bourne Trilogy.

Btw, I finally blog something on this movie even just a very short one because I think it's a good practice for myself. I have quite a short-term memory problem especially on movies. There are movies that I've watched but I couldn't remember any single detail on them. When D called from Sibu & mentioned about Cloverfield, terus rasa mcm penah dgr je tajuk cite tu. Luckily, I did blog about it, or else I'd totally forgot that I've already watched the movie... or at least I'd totally forgot having watched the movie with such title. Skip the made-up but true excuse to blog... actually I'm really bored staying in the office during lunch break with nothing interesting to do. Pity me & keep on reading k.

So, I'm trying to review on "Hulk", the movie... but end up rambling instead. Tomorrow, I'll watch "Wanted"... which classified 18SG. Yeay! Tired of watching the 'Umum' commercial... you know the one with CGI character (which gonna have a fight) before the film start rolling.

On a different notes, right now I'm listening to Within Temptation's previous albums - Mother Earth (2002) & The Silent Force (2004). I bought both high-quality-mp3 albums at an exclusive price of just EUR5.99 each instead the normal price of EUR9.99... cheap isn't if for a CD? I think so... even it's a softcopy. Well, hardly to get the hardcopy one in M'sia... since the band's not well-known here. The imported CD costs higher than RM90. Seriously. It's a limited period of members offer by Openstore (afraid to tell that the website is only for members who have Opendisc CD). Well, I certainly couldn't ignore the offer :-D... & on the other different notes, I bought 2 pairs of shoes yesterday... am thinking of buying another one despite the fact that I'm gonna go to UK in 2 1/2 months & leave behind the shoes. Someone, please knock my head (metaphorically speaking ok)... ;-).
